Herstory is a work that reimagines the iconic flour sack underwear during the U.S Aid era in Taiwan, transforming the material into a women’s bra to unveil a hidden narrative of gendered labor. While official histories highlight infrastructure and military support, this piece confronts the overlooked boom in sex tourism and bar industry tied to the US military’s Rest and Recreation program (1965-1972)during the Vietnam War.
