Undulating Terrain, 2022
neon, silicon, Chinese silk, wood, hair extension, PVC tube, 35" 16" 3.5
In collaboration with Yasmine Anlan Huang
Glowing in the dark, a bundle of aqua-blue lights emits from five glass tubes draped with Argon and mixed with a tiny drop of mercury. A shield of lumpy skin clothes the tubes, watering down the high-profile lights. Borrowing from calligraphy, we subvert the traditional Western language of neon technology and transform this linear medium into sensual brushstrokes. The pressed, pushed, pulled, and massaged bodies are depicted as an undulating plain, in response to contradictorily glamorous massage ads.
